Ready, set, summer time!!! June is upon us and we’re getting ready for a busy last few weeks of school! On behalf of the Dicken PTO, I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for a wonderful school year. And there is still more to come…

Thank You to our most recent parent volunteer committee chairs for Teacher Appreciation, Dad’s Garden Day, 4th Grade Disability Day, Doug Scheer and Kevin Devine assemblies, and all of the other wonderful events.

Special thanks to Principal Madison, Dicken teachers, and the 2010-2011 PTO Executive Board members: Naela Jenkins, Vicki Haviland, Anthony Sparkling, Amy Nelson, Kirstin Queen, Susan Farrell, Tenagne Fields, Jennifer Brogno, Julie Morrison, Kirsten Segal, Jennifer Streeter, Stephanie Comai, Carolyn Sutton, and Sally Steward. More appreciation to other committee coordinators for their excellent work this year. And, many, many thanks to Patti, Pam, Silent Auction Parent VIP, Micki Schueler, and other support staff for their dedication to the PTO and the entire Dicken community.

We value you for sharing your time and talents with our parent group! Your assistance goes a long way toward bringing so many great activities and programs to our school’s teachers, students, and families, and we sincerely appreciate your important service. Our school becomes a better place every day when parents like you are there to lend a hand! We hope that you found your volunteer experience worthwhile.

Also, a Friendly Reminder to complete the Spring 2011 Survey as listed in the PTO Blast. This is an anonymous and brief survey, so feel free to speak your mind. Gathering parent feedback helps us stay in tune with our community and continue to build effective programs, and it is also a good way to inform you about what your PTO is doing. We are planning our calendar for the 2011-12 school year and encourage your response. Your opinions influence our financial and volunteer decisions. We are open to your ideas and suggestions, so please take a moment and share your comments with us at this time. This survey ultimately helps us determine how your money is spent. The PTO thanks you for your contributions and all forms of support today and every day!

Remember to Help Us earn FREE CASH over the Summer! Our children need every family to support our existing fundraisers, such as: Box Top$ for Education – collect, collect, collect!!! Keep them handy in a plastic baggie and collect them all summer long! We also receive community support from Target and EGGS (Everybody Goes Grocery Shopping): Arbor Farms, Kroger, Meijer’s, Plum and Busch markets. We appreciate your making this a high priority by taking charge of education and designating Dicken elementary to receive financial rewards from these stores at no extra cost to you! Don’t forget to scan them every time at checkout. Asking family, friends, and neighbors to chip in helps us even more! For more information, visit our updated website at: dickenpto.wordpress.com/.
